Overview

This 18-month Work-Study Post-Diploma programme aims to deepen and equip participants with relevant skills to meet the industry demand for trained specialists in Biomedical Engineering, Medical Technology and Healthcare Services in the Biomedical industry.

Upon completing the course, the graduates will be equipped to undertake the following biomedical engineering and services functions:

a) perform maintenance of biomedical equipment and devices;
b) perform troubleshooting of biomedical equipment and devices;
c) develop solutions for engineering problems related to biomedical engineering;
d) practice Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) procedures in the manufacturing value stream of medical devices or combination products;
e) formulate good healthcare operations management, healthcare administration and regulatory compliance within healthcare, medtech and biomedical industry, and
f) administer clinical trials

At the entry level, the job position is Engineering Assistant[1]. Upon completing the course under the Work-Study Post-Diploma Programme, graduates can look forward to role expansion in their work scope.

Course Structure

To be awarded the Specialist Diploma in Biomedical Engineering and Services, students are required to complete a total of 15 Credit Units or 3 Skills-Based Modular Courses (SBMCs) curated from SUSS’s Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering, as well as a project and 2 SBMCs from TP’s PDC in Medical Equipment. Students must complete the course within 18 months.

a) Healthcare Standards and Regulations
b) Healthcare Administration
c) Clinical Trials

Post-Diploma Certificate in Medical Equipment at TP
a) Biomedical Instrumentation and Systems
b) Biomedical Engineering Practices
c) Project

Upon successful completion of each SBMC at SUSS, participants will be awarded the Course Certificate by SUSS. Upon successful completion of the 2 TP’s SBMCs and Project, participants will be awarded the Post-Diploma Certificate in Medical Equipment.
The Specialist Diploma in Biomedical Engineering & Services will be awarded jointly by TP and SUSS to participants who have successfully completed the SBMCs at SUSS and the PDC at TP.

Written & Practical Tests, Case Studies, Assignments and Projects.


Entry Requirements

Singaporeans or Singapore Permanent Residents who are within three years of either graduation from the polytechnics or the Operational Ready Date (ORD) for National Servicemen, from the following full-time programmes are eligible to apply.

Course Fees

Full Course Fees for WSPostDip (excluding GST)*: $9,244.80

The SUSS course fees are reviewed annually and may be revised. The University reserves the right to adjust the course fees without prior notice.
MOE subsidy will not be applicable for students who repeat a module or semester.
The course fees will be reviewed by MOE on an annual basis and adjusted accordingly.
