Overview

The Singapore robotics scene received a major boost with the government’s 2016 budget announcement of an additional S$450 million committed to the National Robotics Programme over the next three years. This package would support robotics development and deployment across healthcare, construction, manufacturing and logistics. This 12-month Work-Study Post-Diploma Programme aims to deepen and equip participants with the relevant skills to meet the industry demands for trained specialists in robotics and control & automation. Upon completing the course, graduates will be equipped to undertake the following engineering functions:    

a) installation, commissioning, and maintenance of robotic and automation equipment;   
b) troubleshooting of automation equipment, and
c) application of robot for collaboration in workplace

At the entry level, the job positions are Associate Engineers[1]. Upon completing the course under the Work-Study Programme, graduates can look forward to role expansion in their work scope. They can also look forward to upgrading their knowledge and skills through further Continuous Education Training (CET) and executive programmes offered by local Institutes of Higher Learning.

Course Structure

To be awarded the Specialist Diploma in Robotics and Automation, students are required to complete a total of 2 Post-Diploma Certificates (PDCs). Each PDC can be completed in 1 semester, ie. 6 months. A certificate will be issued once the requirements for each PDC are met. Students must complete the course within 12 months.

Post-Diploma Certificate in Robotics
a) Robotics Systems, Control and Troubleshooting
b) Robotics Integration and Adaptation
c) Project

Post-Diploma Certificate in Automation
a) Automation Control and Interfacing
b) Manufacturing Equipment and Troubleshooting


Modes of Assessment

The assessment will be based on a combination of coursework components such as written and practical tests, case studies, assignments and projects.  It will be conducted in a traditional classroom setting.


Entry Requirements

Singaporeans or Singapore Permanent Residents who are within three years of either graduation from the polytechnics or the Operationally Ready Date (ORD) for National Servicemen from relevant full-time engineering-related diplomas are eligible to apply.


Course Fees

Full Course Fees for WSPostDip (excluding GST)*: $5,712.00

MOE subsidy will not be applicable for students who repeat a module or semester.
Fees payable is based on per PDC.
The course fees will be reviewed by MOE on an annual basis and adjusted accordingly.
